Hello. I am Roxanne and Sense Counselling is my private counselling practice.
I am an accredited counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This demonstrates that I meet their professional conduct standards and I am committed to following the BACP ethical framework.
I began my journey into the mental health field when I completed a degree in Psychology and Criminology (BSc). Then I worked hard to gain experience of supporting different individuals through both employed and voluntary positions.
As I gained more experience, I developed a passion for helping people to improve their mental health and wellbeing, and I decided to pursue further training to become a Counsellor. The first step I took towards this goal was to complete a post-graduate certificate in Person-Centred Counselling Skills (PGCert) – an approach that continues to be the foundation of my practice today.
Overtime I also developed a particular interest in supporting individuals who are struggling with addictions, so I decided to pursue this as a specialism by completing a master’s degree in Addiction Psychology and Counselling (MSc).
Since qualifying as a counsellor, I have gained further experience in the fields of addiction, sexual violence, and eating disorders. I have also supported individuals with anxiety, domestic abuse, grief, low mood, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and trauma.
I now provide counselling services through Sense Counselling, my private practice based in Ipswich. The sessions are available in-person or online, and I also offer a free initial telephone consultation, up to twenty minutes.
My way of working has a person-centred foundation, which means I approach every session with empathy, honesty, and acceptance. I also draw on other approaches to enable me to best support someone with the specific difficulties they have brought to counselling.
